19 September 2022, Cagayan de Oro City—Representatives from Gasus Co., Ltd., Hitachi Transport Co., Ltd., and Unexplored Co., Ltd. are in Cagayan de Oro from 19 to 20 September 2022 to explore partnership opportunities in industrial waste recycling.

The visit is an offshoot of the Seeds and Needs webinar series from October 2021 to April 2022, co-organized by the Office of the Consul General of Japan in Davao with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro through the Cagayan de Oro Trade and Investment Promotions Center (Oro-TIPC).

and representatives of the academe, and the business community, after which the company expressed its interest in conducting an exploratory visit to Cagayan de Oro.

The first day of the visit included a courtesy call with City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” A. Uy, and shortly thereafter, a meeting with the City Council Committee on Environment, and the Department Managers and Consultants of the City-Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), the Office of the City Engineer, the Office for Community Affairs (OCA), the City Public Services Department (CPSD), the Hapsay Sapa Waterways Management Program, and the East and Westbound Terminals and Public Markets (ETWPM).

Engr. Armen A. Cuenca, City-Local Environment and Natural Resources Officer, presented the city’s solid waste management laws and programs in the meeting organized by Oro-TIPC International Relations in charge Imma Rae D. Gatuslao, opened by Oro-TIPC Assistant Department Head Raelita E. Legaspi, and facilitated by Investor Services team members Oxanna S. Custodio, and Hanin S. Laguindab.


All eyes and ears are on Engr. Armen Cuenca as he explains the Conceptual Framework of R.A. 9003 or the "Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000" 

The rest of the visitors’ itinerary included visits to the city’s sanitary landfill, the Eco Park at the old city dump site, the City Jail, and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) where they were presented some research studies of USTP students and faculty. Dr. Maria Noelyn S. Dano, EnP, USTP Director for International Affairs, and Arch. Archimedes Wabe, MAURP, also presented the soon-to-rise AGILA Science and Technology Park - USTP Alubijid Comprehensive Master Development Plan.
