Women Entrepreneurs Gear Up for Digital Success at BrandHERS Workshop

Written by

Cagayan de Oro City, June 10, 2025 — Today marks the start of BrandHERS, a two-day creative workshop designed to equip women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Cagayan de Oro with the tools and confidence to thrive in the digital economy.

Held at Room 9-305, ICT Building, USTP CDO Campus, the workshop features practical, hands-on sessions in Canva for graphic design, CapCut for video editing, and a guided activity to develop a personalized content calendar — all aimed at helping participants boost their brand presence and engage more effectively online.

Organized in partnership with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP CDO), the Cagayan de Oro Trade and Investment Promotions Center (Oro-TIPC), and DTI Region X, the event is part of an academic research initiative by Angelie R. Bete, a graduate student of Mapúa University – School of Media Studies and a faculty member at USTP.

Oro-TIPC played a key role in promoting the event and inviting women entrepreneurs from across the city to participate — helping ensure a diverse and dynamic group of MSMEs are represented and empowered.

Bete’s graduate study, “Empowering Women-Led MSMEs in Cagayan de Oro through Cost-Effective Multimedia Marketing Strategies,” explores how accessible digital tools like Canva and CapCut can help improve the visibility and competitiveness of local businesses.

  • Women-led MSMEs who couldn’t attend the workshop are encouraged to support the study by responding to a 10–15 minute online surveyhttps://forms.gle/Y5fZ5piibiPCYeuA9
  • Workshop Highlights:
    • Canva for easy, branded visual content
    • CapCut for mobile-friendly video editing
    • Branding and storytelling session
    • 7-day content calendar creation
    • Peer feedback, starter kits, and certificates

With the support of its local partners, BrandHERS celebrates the creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of women in business — paving the way for inclusive digital growth in Cagayan de Oro and beyond.n
